Joe and Ann Mehrten have long been associated with the travel and hospitality business. Joe’s first travel experiences were trips to Canada, New England and Mexico when in his teens.
Leisure travel has been enjoyed by folks from San Francisco to Seattle and from Los Angeles, Portland, Stockton, Sacramento, Fresno, Reno, Carson City, Modesto, Chico, San Jose, Walnut Creek, Napa, Santa Rosa, Petaluma, Monterey, San Rafael, Boise, Billings, Phoenix, Tucson, Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Dallas, Boston, Denver, Colorado Springs, Salt Lake City, Las Vegas, Arcadia, Pasadena, San Diego, Irvine, Santa Barbara, Salinas, Santa Cruz, Palo Alto, San Matel, San Leandro, Miami and Honolulu with help from Classic Heritage Tours.
Following his college B.S. degree in environmental studies he was engaged in real estate sales. In 1963 he traveled through much of Europe and around the world and in the Orient. For over a decade from the mid 1970s he managed a nationwide speakers bureau from headquarters in southern California and Massachusetts.
Today in conjunction with the tour business Joe runs a working cattle ranch where he was born in the Sierra foothills. He is an avid student of California history where his ancestors were early pioneers.
Ann operates a bed and breakfast at the ranch house, called “The Grand Oaks Inn”. She calls it a place with historical authenticity. Ann also traveled extensively with her family as a youth. Following college graduation she worked in Korea for over a year and traveled in the Orient, around the World and through Europe. She often goes on Heritage Tour adventures and brings wonderful picnic luncheons.
